It IS true...I am STILL on holidays and Lovin' Every Minute of It! As I mentioned in my Time For A Vay-K post, this is the holiday I look forward to most every year because I get the best of both worlds...time with my family AND time with my friends. I have made a NEW friend (S-U-R-P-R-I-S-E) LOL and with her permission I am submitting a "Guest Post" for this weeks, What I Love About Me Blog Hop!
My RL Bestie, LeeAnn and her family have some FA-bulous neighbours! I am so very full of city-envy (in a good way though) because in my opinion, city neighbours can't hold a candle to the genuine, "We've Got Your Back" kinda relationship that smaller town neighbours do. (By the way...I have found out Where The Children Play...in small towns!)
Anywho, Estelle is my friend's neighbour. If you have a second please check out her party decorating business PERFECT SETTINGS(Let's help her get an Alexa reading.)!We I got to obsessing talking about my Blog and she was kind enough to go have a "gander" that same night. The next day she returned with this HUGE binder filled with her own memories as a mom of 3 children, who are now 14, 18 & 19. (Some of the nicest, most polite, interactive, respectful teenagers I have EVER been around by the way!) I was so excited to have a "gander" at her pre-blog-era collection of stories and I was blown away by some of the things she had written and documented. Poems, articles, jokes, etc. It really helps solidify my decision to Blog because as she was going through it she was so excited and emotional about the contents and you could just see memories coming back...I know my Blog will provide that same "joy" years from now.
Long story short (ya right, as if I can EVER make a long story short...LOL!) I have asked her if she would be okay with me posting a few things from her book-of-memories and to my delight she agreed. I think all my fellow mommies out there will truly appreciate Estelle's insight and forethought to document her life as a SAHM without the ease of modern technology. (Just when I thought that things are changing way to fast, along she came to remind me that "Good Mom's" are "Good Mom's" no matter the world around them!)
What Did Estelle Love About Herself as a Mom of 3 Small Children Over 14 Years Ago? How she was able to sit down one day and write out her definition of a good mom in hopes that she could read it when she started feeling like she was "falling short"!
Excerpt from- My Definition of a Mom (Written by Estelle)
A good mom is sitting at her computer typing this to remind herself that she IS a Good Mom
A good mom is always ready to listen to their kids when they finally need to open up and talk. Even if it is while the dog is howling, the supper is burning and someone is knocking at the door.
A good mom knows how to put good manners into play, discipline and reprimand even when her heart is shattered because that wonderful little face has done something wrong.
A good mom is someone who intends to make all their Halloween costumes but manages to pull something together the night before the trick or treaters go out.
A good mom puts housework on hold because all the kids are playing and working together without fighting and she doesn't want to miss out on all the fun!
A good mom thinks about Christmas in August and starts putting money aside for gifts.
A good mom tries to keep all those pictures, baby books and special keepsakes organized for that "someday" when you can sit together and reminisce.
A good mom goes out shopping with all 3 kids with a long list of errands in tow and comes back 5 hours later with only 3 items checked off that list and this mom is ok with that.
A good mom gives her kids hug n' kisses every chance she gets and takes all the butterfly kisses, winks and peanut butter/chocolate "smooches" she can.
A good mom is suppose to somehow magically pull a rabbit out of a hat because someone forgot to give you a note from school that says they need treats, a costume or money AND it's 5 minutes until the bus arrives.
A good mom is suppose to know where they left their odds and ends that never get picked up.
A good mom knows that she is dong the best she can without a book on "how-to". She knows that today her kids may not appreciate everything she has done but someday they will.
A good mom wraps her arms around her kids and finds a band-aid quickly when they get hurt.
A good mom tries to always be on step ahead of everyone else; you need to have ready made snacks, cold juices, clean socks, hair clips, a brush at hand, damp facecloths, extra shoe-laces for emergency cases, extra sweaters, pants & underwear for a quick trip to town just in case of spills or unexpected nosebleeds, meals planned, outfits for school planned (even if your younger daughter doesn't approve of what you have picked out), working the washer & dryer overtime, snacks for lunches AND you can't forget to freeze the juice boxes the night before so they can have a cold drink for lunch!
And last but not least A GOOD MOM can stop typing this because now she feels so much better about herself and what she actually does around here. Someday these little ones will grow up and I'm sure they will remember some of the "good stuff" I did and they can pass it down to their little ones because I've learned all this and more from my own mom! Thanks mom! I LOVE YOU
Thanks so much Estelle for letting me share this with my Bloggy Buds! I think you have motivated me to sit down and write my own "My Definition of a Mom" list.
How 'Bout You Ladies? I think we should all do this because our kids WILL need reminders that WE ARE GOOD MOMS, especially during the teenage years...LOL!!
Come join the "hop", here's how it works:
Write a post about what you love about yourself this week and then add it to the linky list below. This is intended to be a time and place for each of us to stop criticizing ourselves for a few minutes and actually remind ourselves of the characteristics we are proud to own. So go ahead, look in the mirror, and see yourself through your loved one's eyes. Notice the beauty first. Here's your place to shine!
A few simple guidelines -
Please follow the two hostesses. If you are a new follower, please comment so we can follow you too! :)
We'd love it if you posted the button and the linky list, but it is not mandatory. The button code is on my left sidebar.

As you may or may not know, I am far away from my Scrapbooking "thingies" so I was unable to "produce" a new crafty creation to participate. I HATE to miss a crafty-party so I decided to link up an old post (with revisions) so I wouldn't miss out! (It appear that I can be creative with a computer too...LOL!) I can't wait to link up with some NEW "masterpieces" soon...I miss my Scrapbooking "stuff" *sigh*!

I am lucky...I am VERY lucky! I get to "escape" from the homestead, on average, once a month for a night or TWO.
I know. VERY LUCKY. In the last 6 months I have been on 2 scrapbooking weekends, a 4 day Las Vegas trip, 1 night in the mountains and 1 night- 2 days, in Toronto. Fo-rtunate Fo-Sure!
These little "get-a-ways" are so much fun and in all honesty, they make me a better mom. I started my family late in life, so I know the joys AND value of "girlz only breaks" from reality. If I didn't get to "escape" from time to time, I think I might be a little less patient...a little less engaging...a little less sane! I'm just being honest...
I am linking up with Twingle Mommy and Twins Plus One, Three Times the Fun for their What I Love About Me linky. I just couldn't resist, even being away on holidays and all...I've missed the last 2 weeks and well, that makes me sad. :)
What I am LOVIN' about me this week is that I am a VERY Proud Mommy of Twins!!!
So for those of you who have just recently starting to follow me in the "Bloggy World" you may not know that my blog was originally titled Just Another Mom of Twins. However, I had a few inquisitive readers email me privately and ask, something along the lines of;
"Do you feel insignificant as a mom of twins?" Ummm....no, no I do not.
OR
"Do you feel like your life is defined as being "just a mom of twins"?" Ummm...no, no I do not.
But thank you for making me reflect and analyze my Blog Title because I can totally see how THATmay have been the message being conveyed. (Really?!?!)
I suppose in some way, my original title was my finger nose up at the people in the world that have TRIED to make me feel that way.
Well then get your dancing shoes on and those singing voices ready because ME, Ginger of Just Another Mom of Twins and Becca of Because I'm the Mommy are hosting a "Songs That Make Us Sing Saturday Blog Hop!!"

A TOTALLY Fun & Silly Song that I love to play, sing and dance with Ave and Bryce too!
Ave & Bryce enjoyed having lunch with dad and he's over 2000 kilometers away. Skype is amazing!!
Being away from daddy is really "tuff" but it makes it just a little bit easier when they can see him via the computer. Daddy Dave spent over 40 minutes talking and reading them their favorite books!
Ave, Bryce & I leave London for the L-O-N-G 10-12 hour drive to Timmins on Sunday. I am sooooo nervous! They have never been on such a long road trip before. I've got all the snacks and drinks ready, oh and I bought them those "dual" DVD players in hopes that might entertain them for part of the journey???
Wish us luck! ;)
Only 3 more sleeps until Dad joins us in Northern Ontario!! WooHoo!!
My sister and I were driving back from our F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S Girlz trip to Toronto (stay tuned to read all about our misadventures) last night and we got to talking. Topic: Where Do The Children Play?
As I settled down for the night, I got lost in the words of a Cat Stevens Song...
Well I think it's fine, building jumbo planes.
Or taking a ride on a cosmic train.
Switch on summer from a slot machine.
Get what you want to if you want, 'cause you can get anything.
I know we've come a long way,
We're changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play?
I could hardly fall asleep as my mind began racing & I once again began to think...
There is nothing more exciting for me than to see Ave & Bryce engaged in new and fun "activities". Their cousin, Breanna, set up her "tent & tunnel" contraption the other day and they were so intrigued by the whole experience.
Bryce was fearless...in and out...in and out he went!
Ave was a little more cautious, she spent more than a few minutes peering inside before getting the courage to "enter the unknown"!
Here they are playing Peek-A-Boo with someone in the tent...Bryce couldn't get enough!
Ave squealed with delight!
I hope everyone is having as wonderful of a week as we are!!
If one baby woke up to feed, the other baby was woken to feed. I know, I know...sounds militant and well, I guess it was and STILL IS. But in my defense, my kids are extremely well adjusted, generally happy little beings who have a predictable, established "schedule" that I believe has been the #1 reason that they go to bed at 7pm and are up at 7am...like clockwork!
Yes, there have been some drawbacks to having such a set "schedule" but they are few and far between and the benefits far outweigh the negatives.
We have lived and died by the "schedule" for 19 months but Gramps is now slowly killing us...
As I have mentioned, I do not go to Church (regularly) and I have never read the Bible. However, I really would like to attend Church and more importantly, I want my children to believe and have a sense of a “higher power” .
Currently, my husband and I differ on how that should be achieved. The Church I want to go to is not your "typical-conservative" House of God. It is what might be classified as “New Age” or as my husband likes to call it a “Smoke and Mirrors...Hokey Pokey” Church. He was born and raised Catholic.
I have attended a few services at the local “New Age” Churchwhere I live and I absolutely love the up-beat, full band-modern musical songs and more importantly the religious “conversations”, if you will, that happen in plain, understandable language. The messages, from what little I know, ARE from the Holy Book. I am not sure if it is the way in which the stories are being told or the wonderful music that accompanies them BUT whatever IT is...I love it and I feel connected to “something” greater than me when I am there.
I suppose the kids and I could go without my husband but I am really wanting our "religion path" to be taken on an united front. So until then, I will keep on with my Spiritual Sunday Posts and leave you with a song that I find exhilarating to listen too and one that I think teaches Religion.
On a "spiritually positive" note...Mr. Johnny Cash is someone BOTH my husband and I love to listen too!! (Hey, it's all about taking "Baby Steps"!)
Did You Get The Chance To Enter My $75.00 Makeover Giveaway Yet?CHECK IT OUTBefore Friday Aug 26th!
In the event that you missed my original dinosaur...I mean cell phone post, I encourage you to have a read because you will find this update even more "amusing" if you do! :)
As I mentioned in my first post, I was not at all ashamed or embarrassed by my "old" cell phone. It was functional. I also mentioned in my first post, I would like an "upgrade" should/when the ole' dinosaur died. Nothing fancy, just something that would allow me to "tweet/text" easily, you know, a keyboard of some sort.
Well, THAT phone did die...just before we headed on our Vay-K. My husband & I felt it was important that I have a phone while me and the kiddies were away so we were pressed for time to get a new one. I was soooo excited when I began to envision the new phone and all the fun & exciting things I would be able to do on it. *insert a gleeful smile here*
That lasted about 2 seconds. Here is the phone that Daddy Dave returned from the store with...
YES! It really IS the NEW Dinosaur...I mean phone!
(Notice the SIMPLE FLIP description on the side?!?)
Can you see the difference?
OLD PHONE
NEW PHONE
I was so deflate when he proudly pulled my NEW phone out of the bag. It wasn't even a different color. Red? Pink? Blue? NOPE! Black. When I asked why he didn't at least get me the pink one, he said he refused to be seen in public with a pink phone. (Ummm...isn't it MY phone?!?!?!)
I then went on to complain discuss about not even getting a small upgrade to a keyboard model and how it was the EXACT SAME PHONE. WTH?
Dave responded to my rant questions in a calm, rational tone, "What are YOU talking about "not an upgrade??" It has a camera!" I couldn't argue...it does in fact have a camera. Geessshhhhh!
As I have said before, it's all about baby steps 'round these parts. LMAO!
It's that time of year for me and the kids to "pack up", strap on our "Go-Go's", board a plane and head back to my "birth place" of Ontario.
That's right, we are heading East for a ONE MONTH vacation or as I like to call it... a Vay-K! LOL
I am so excited to see my family and friends, it's the yearly trip I look forward too most! Woo Hoo! But I am almost a little sad because I might not be able to stay AS connected with all my "Blogger Buds" for the next 4 weeks! Boo Hoo!(I become "attached" to people very quickly...don't worry, I am not a stalker! LOL)
I should also make note that part of my BOO HOO's include the fact that my husband wont be joining us until 2 weeks into the journey. Darn work...why couldn't we have been born into $$$? Better yet, why couldn't we all live in a world where everything is FREE?!?! (Ya, wishful dreaming I know!)
Anyways, I have managed to find time to "pre-schedule" my Wordless Wednesdays- Scrapbooking Posts, The Saturday "Songs That Make Us Sing" Linky Party AND My Spiritual Sunday posts. (Thanks Becca over at Because I'm the Mommy for teaching me all about that bloggin' feature...I have so much to learn yet!) Now I will feel that I am least "keeping touch"...Kinda. LOL!
I sure hope that I can sneak in some time while I am away to read all about my "Blogger Buds" adventures and even post a few stories of my own but if I don't....please don't forget me! In the words of the Terminator "I'll Be Back"! (You're gonna miss my cheesy humor...I just KNOW it! LOL)
I remember hearing the following story when I was a young girl. It had a great impact on me , perhaps because of the way the meaning of the story was explained to me. I have researched a little and it seems that most people believe that it is meant to serve as a warning to not trust everyone.
Why don't you have a read and see what you think the "life lesson" is for YOU! (I have posted how I was taught to interrupt this story at the end of the post.)
Well then get your dancing shoes on and those singing voices ready because ME, Ginger of Just Another Mom of Twins and Becca of Because I'm the Mommy are hosting a "Songs That Make Us Sing Saturday Blog Hop!!"
Oh Ya! This Is Gonna Be FUN! FUN! FUN!

This Song was my personal “Anthem” when I picked up at the age of 24 and moved to the other side of Canada to start a new and exciting adventure!
I am going to visit my University roommate and dear friend in the next couple weeks...we haven't seen each other in over 3 years! :( To my delight, she is expecting her VERY first baby!!
I wanted to get her something "extra" special. So that got me thinking...and that's when I came up with my Oprah Style "Welcome Baby" Gift. I put together a "package" on some of my all time FAVORITE "Mommy Must Have's". Come check them out....
Hey There! I would love to see YOUR Wordless, Wordful or Whatever Wednesday Post!
Come On...Hop Along & Link Up!!
I hate not including ALL my favorite pictures in my Scrapbooks so, this is one technique I tend to use often in order to be able to place multiple pictures on TWO pages but still have it look fun & interesting!
A collage of some of my favorite pictures of my Daughter, Ave
A collage of some of my favorite pictures of my Son, Bryce
I am linking up with Marcia over at 123 Blog for her SHOW ME YOUR PHONE fun Blog Hop!
I am positive...99% positive (That's pretty darn certain) that I have the oldest phone out there and I am okay with that...kinda! LOL!
I would love to get a NEW phone. Nothing too fancy but one that has the ability to "app-out"...not even...just the ability to TEXT! BUT this one does what it needs to do...accept calls and dial out. As boring as it sounds...the price is right! $10.00 a month and 10 cents a minute. That's the cheapest plan I can find in Canada.
So here it is...my dinosaur...I mean phone! LOL! (Go ahead...giggle...it's ok...really!)
Can you understand why I don't "tweet" now??? LOL!
Click over to 123 Blog to get on the "I'll Show You Mine, If You Show Me Yours" cell phone train!!
