What I LOVE about me today is that I (we) have made a decision. Finally! We are happy just the way we are...
We've decided not to have anymore children. It wasn't an easy choice to make, although we have been saying to everyone we know that "We're Done!". As you may or may not know, my husband and I went through 3 IVF cycles (1 fresh, 2 frozen) before we were blessed with our son & daughter. (You can read all about My IVF Journey HERE if you like.)
It is that time of year when our "notice" of the cryopreservation of our embryo's has come up for renewal. It's a very difficult time for us because both my husband and I do not like the 3 choices we have with regards to our 4 remaining embryo's, None of them are "options" for us:
1. Donate to science
2. Donate to another couple
3. Have them destroyed
We are VERY thankful for modern science and giving us the opportunity to become parents. However, the curse that comes along with that is leaving us with the daunting, almost haunting decision of what do do with our little frozen embryo's. That is a decision we are still not ready to make and so we have paid our yearly "storage" fee and as it stands right now, this is what we will continue to do until we can morally make a decision we are comfortable with.
Back to what I LOVE about ME (us) this week. For the last two years we sit down to have our BIG discussion; "Should we OR shouldn't we have more children"? Well, I am so proud of us that we have finally made a decision that we know is best for us and our family. No. I LOVE that we have had the courage to thoughtfully and reflectively make the decision to not expand our family.
On a lighter note...I am also LOVIN' that once I make a decision I just Get er' Done! This is what one of my closets has looked like for over two years with all my Maternity "gear":
No, that's not a Coffee Maker...LOL (It had some folded shirts in it) |
This is what my closet looks like now that I have have made the decision not to have anymore children!
It's Bittersweet Actually! |
However, this is all the "STUFF" I have to sell now. (Who knows, with any luck I'll be posting how much I LOVE how I sold it all...quickly! LOL)
21 shirts, 10 pairs of pants, 1 jean skirt, nightgown, housecoat & REALLY large briefs (never worn, of course. LOL) |
